In the INCI it is indicated as Rosa canina fruit extract. Dog Rose is a perennial plant belonging to the Rosaceae family native to Asia and Europe, and it is the most common spontaneous rose species in Italy. The nickname “dog” is attributed to Pliny the Elder, who wrote about a Roman soldier recovered from rabies with a decoction of roots. Today, aware that this ingredient is rich in Vitamins C and A, it is widely maximized in the cosmetic industry, where it is used for its regenerating, tonifying and rebalancing action. The strong presence of polyphenols in the rosehip fruit – especially tannins and flavonoids – gives it antioxidant properties, ideal for counteracting skin aging.
